We toured Arles this morning. Arles is a city on the Rhône River in the Provence region of southern France.45 viewsArles is famed for inspiring the paintings of Van Gogh, which influenced the contemporary art displayed at the Fondation Vincent Van Gogh. Once a provincial capital of ancient Rome, Arles is also known for many remains from that era, including Arles Amphitheatre.

One of three Van Gogh paintings in this album, the second one is on page 3, and the last one is on page 5.44 viewsI included three of Van Gogh's paintings here. When we visited Conflans, in our Seine river cruise, where Van Gogh spent his last months of his life before committing suicide, his paintings there were dark and full of pain. The first two paintings included here that he did in Provence area were much more joyful when he was the happiest. The last one included here on page 5 is a painting of a draw bridge.
