This morning we visited Mesa Verde National Park.122 viewsMesa Verde (Green Table) National Park is the first UNESCO World Hermitage Site in the US. It is the largest archaeological preserve in the US. The Pueblo native Americans inhibited Mesa Verde from AD 600 to AD 1300. They abandon the site in the start of the 15 century possibly due to the deforestation of the area by over usage.

This cliff dwellings (alcove) is Cliff Palace which is 86 feet deep and about 300 feet wide. It had 150 rooms and 23 kivas (round sunken rooms for ceremonial purposes), and had about 100 inhabitants.109 views
