Today we have an open day on the tour schedule, so we signed up for the optional river rafting.94 viewsWe have had wonderful weather, but it was raining today. River rafting in the rain should be fine, we will get wet regardless. We have been really lucky with the weather. It rained on this day and one other time when we were traveling in our coach. That was it, all the other days, we had sunny and 50-70 degree weather.

The Crazy Horse Monument.93 viewsThe white sculpture in the foreground is the model that the future monument will look like. The back ground shows the incomplete monument. It started in 1948, and it won't be finished for probably many more generations (some would say it will never be finished). The face of Crazy Horse (the name of the famous Indian) was completed in 1982 and can be seen here. When it is finished, it will be over 500 feet tall. To give perspective to the scale, the sculpture of the four presidents on Mount Rushmore would almost fit in the head of Crazy Horse.
