148 viewsIt is claimed that at the Benedictine Abbey of Fécamp in Normandy, monks had developed a medicinal aromatic herbal beverage which was produced until the abbey's devastation during the French Revolution, but in fact Alexandre Le Grand invented the recipe himself, helped by a local chemist, and he told this story to connect the liqueur with the city history to increase sales.

The Crazy Horse Monument.148 viewsThe white sculpture in the foreground is the model that the future monument will look like. The back ground shows the incomplete monument. It started in 1948, and it won't be finished for probably many more generations (some would say it will never be finished). The face of Crazy Horse (the name of the famous Indian) was completed in 1982 and can be seen here. When it is finished, it will be over 500 feet tall. To give perspective to the scale, the sculpture of the four presidents on Mount Rushmore would almost fit in the head of Crazy Horse.
