We visited the Potala Palace today. It is the residence of the Dalai Lama until the 14th Dalai Lama fled to India during the 1959 Tibetan uprising.
It is unfortunate that we are not allowed to take pictures inside. It contains numerous treasures and artifacts. Including the tomes of past Dalai Lamas. As an example, the tome of the fifth Dalai Lama is made of gold weighting more than 3600kg (almost 8,000lb). And his crown has one of the biggest diamonds in the world.
